Dutch Baroque Era Painter, ca.1583-1633 Dutch painter and draughtsman. He was the son of the goldsmith Pieter Segersz. His older brother Seeger Pietersz. [Coninck] became a goldsmith like his father, while his younger brother Claes Lastman became an engraver and painter. Pieter trained as a painter under the Mannerist artist Gerrit Pietersz., brother of the composer Jan Pietersz. Sweelinck. In June 1602 Lastman travelled to Rome, like so many of his contemporaries. Van Mander, in his biography of Gerrit Pietersz., mentioned his pupil 'Pieter Lasman [sic] who shows great promise, being presently in Italy'. While there, Lastman made two drawings of an Oriental in a Landscape (both 1603; Amsterdam, Rijksmus.), which betray his continuing stylistic dependence on his master (as can also be seen in three drawings made before his trip to Italy). Related to the drawings made in Italy is a series of 12 prints after designs by Lastman of figures in Italian costumes (Hollstein, nos 11-22). Lastman also visited Venice, as is documented by a drawing (Cambridge, Fitzwilliam) after Veronese's Adoration of the Shepherds in the church of SS Giovanni e Paolo. Italian painter, Roman school (b. 1602, Bevagna, d. 1649, Roma) Andrea Camassei (1602-1649) was an Italian painter of the Baroque, who was mainly active in Rome under the patronage of the Barberini. He was born in Bevagna. He was active in painting in the Palazzo Barberini as well as in Antonio Barberini's favored church, Santa Maria della Concezione, where he painted the Assumption of the Virgin on the dome. His training was under Domenichino, but he also labored under the direction of Sacchi and Pietro da Cortona. He painted a Triumph of Constantine for the Baptistery of the Lateran Palace. He painted for the Taddeo Barberini, two large canvases (1638-39) depicting Massacre of the Niobids and Hunt of Diana. He also painted a Saints Bonaventura, Bernardino & Ludovico da Tolosa for Santa Caterina in Rapecchiano (Spello).

Johan Erik Olsson, född 1865, död 1944, svensk konstnär, autodidakt och naivist, bosatt i Kyan, Hälsingland, där han försörjde sig som dagsverkare, laggkärlstillverkare och fotograf. Hans släkt kom från Lima i Dalarna, därav namnet. Som ung vistades han 8 år på Ulleråkers mentalsjukhus i Uppsala. Fram till 1920-talet målade han natur, djur och andra motiv från hemtrakterna i fantasifull, närmast exotisk gestalt. Lim-Johan uppmärksammades inte under sin levnad, men finns i dag representerad på bland annat på Edsbyns museum i Hälsingland och på Moderna Museet i Stockholm. 1944 avled Lim-Johan på Ovanåkers ålderdomshem efter en tids sjukdom. Han är begravd på Ovanåkers kyrkogård, där det sedan 1994 står "LIM-JOHAN" på gravstenen. Hans konst upptäcktes av en tillfällighet av fil.dr. Philibert Humbla, länsintendent på Gävle museum, som bad Hans Lidman att försöka finna så många tavlor av Lim-Johan som möjligt. Lim-Johan räknas i dag bland de förnämsta naivisterna i världen.
